The Complete Poems of Louis Daniel Brodsky:
Volume Four, 1981–1985

The poems from this segment of the multivolume series of Brodsky's oeuvre focus on the author's extensive traveling, for work and for his Faulkner scholarship, and his time at home, where his family life begins to show signs of unraveling.

Dine-Rite: Breakfast Poems

Set in a Midwest café owned by an evangelical Baptist minister, who allows his eatery to double as a house of worship, these poems introduce not only his flock of Bible thumpers but a collection of regulars, from traveling salesmen to house painters, insurance reps to high-school coaches, all serviced by a fly-by-night manager, a fly-on-the-wall cook, and flighty waitresses.

The Complete Poems of Louis Daniel Brodsky:
Volume Five, 1986–1990

This next installment in the collection of Brodsky's life's work is pervaded by painful poems about the upheaval of his marriage, ending with divorce and his family's dissolution. During these years, Brodsky ends his manufacturing career and begins concentrating, full-time, on his vocation as a poet.
