Pacific  Aubade

Sunrise is calling its Laguna Beach congregation

To 6:54 matinal convocation,

For the blessing of all things within its existential kingdom.

I stir as if at the gentle behest of a divine whisper

Inviting me to step outside,

Into the high tides' benign combers, kissing these warm shores.

My flesh tells time's temperature by the waves' soothing sighs,

As they touch the beach below us, reach for our toes,

Even though you and I lie drowsing, side by side.

Could it be that, being here, we're at the birth of the world?

Slowly, slowly, I roll over, into your peaceful breathing.

I'm the ocean, stroking, stroking, stroking your soul.
