This Intimacy
Whenever either of us leaves the other's intimacy,
We realize how necessary our time apart is,
For allowing us to sense, again,
A hint, tinge, beginning of the longing
That hovered over our prior, too-busy lives
And be reminded how our random coalescence
Emptied our emptiness,
Filled it with love's fulfillment,
So that we might always feel
How crucial we are
To the future our destinies have selected,
Never forget
How precious our gift of affection is —
This intimacy, which will never leave either of us.
