Yearning, Longing
How can two such loving mortal spirits
Belong so deeply, so intimately, to each other,
Be bound up so fervently, so devotedly,
In their own belief that earthly and spiritual joy
Emanate from the same immortal source,
Yet yearn so passionately for something else,
Something more, something greater,
Something transcendent?
Could it be that the something they long for
Is what they have longed for
Since long before they were born?
Could it be that the something they yearn for
Is a breath, a voice, a promise of rebirth
In a universe made eternal by their love?
