A Better Place
In a surly, curt, highly acerbic answer Karl Rove gave
During a recent New York Times Magazine interview,
When asked, "What about Iraq and the economy?"
He bristled, defending President Bush's actions:
"The world is a better place with Saddam Hussein gone."
I read this comment, yesterday, at lunchtime.
Around 2 a.m., this morning, I bolted from a weird dream:
I was wandering, aimlessly, through Baghdad,
Its desolate, cratered streets,
Not certain how I got there or what I should do next.
And everywhere I stared, there were no people —
Sunnis, Shias, Kurds, Sadrists, al-Qa'eda, U.S. troops —
Just a contagion of identical billboards and posters
Showing caricatures of Bush, Cheney, and Rove, reading,
"THE WORLD'S A BETTER PLACE WITH THEM GONE."
